Growing Melton: School & Youth Programs

Growing Melton partners with schools, kindergartens and early learning centres to inspire the next generation of food growers. Through hands-on gardening experiences, students develop practical skills while learning where food comes from, how to grow it sustainably and why healthy food systems matter.

Programs can include:

  • the establishment and support of school vegetable gardens,

  • interactive workshops at community gardens, or curriculum-linked incursions (food growing, bush tucker, sustainability, & more)

  • ongoing mentoring for staff and students.

Whether your school is starting a new garden or looking to expand an existing one, Growing Melton can help bring learning to life through practical, outdoor education.

School Garden Network

The Schools Garden Network is a partnership with Western Health established in 2023. School teachers, ES staff, school nurses and others involved in kitchen gardens, food technology and garden clubs are invited to join the network. The network meets termly for garden tours, some professional development, and collaboration.
