Revegetation Projects
We facilitate revegetation initiatives for schools in local neighbourhoods, with a particular focus in Aintree Reserve (3336). Our program involves a walking tour (45min) to look at environmental & geographical features, and First Nations and Colonial history. Students then participate in planting, staking, guarding and watering of native plants to revegetate the area (60-75mins), creating critical habitat, with a lunch break (and maybe a play at the park).
Programs run in Term 2-3 ONLY, for 3hrs onsite for up to 75 students. These events book up fast!

School Incursions & Seminars
We have limited funding each year to provide incursions for schools or youth organisations (eg Scouts). These incursions can be tailored for your students, but may include workshop such as: composting & worm faming, wildlife gardens, food growing, garden design, and healthy soils. These can be tailored for students of any age.
Workshop lengths are tailored to suit your timetable and could be for up to 60 students at a time. Unfunded incursions start at $350
-
Community Garden Visit
With access to multiple community gardens around the City of Melton, we offer students tailored workshops on topics much as food growing, healthy eating, soils and compost, and sustainability. The Community Garden locations are at community centres in Aintree, Kurunjang, and Melton Central (Djerriwarrh).
Workshops are typically 1-1.5hrs for up to 30 students. Unfunded workshops start at $350. -

Native Nursery & Tubestock
Help us grow tube stock for our Revegetation Projects. We will help you design and set up a simple nursery (if you don’t already have one), provide seed (or have students harvest it on one of our sites), and teach students how to grow native plants for revegetation. If you’re able to grow plants, we can then take you to a site to plant out your tube stock.
A small nursery (5mx5m) could grow 500-1000 tubes for Revegetation.

Seedbank Project
We are starting a new Seedbank and Seed distribution project with Djerriwarrh Neighbourhood House. This project will grow, collect and distribute seed from culturally diverse foods.
We’re wanting schools to partner with is in seed growing and saving so that we can package up these seeds and distribute them through our seed banks. If your school can dedicate some space to growing one of our specific crops, we’d love to hear from you.
